All About Feminine Rejuvenation Procedures in Cincinnati

feminine rejuvenation procedures in Cincinnati

A woman’s body goes through a lot of changes. Childbirth, aging, hormonal changes, and more can affect the look and feel of your vagina. However, there are always two things you should always keep in mind:

  1. Vaginal changes are natural, and your body has done wonders throughout your life.
  2. Feminine rejuvenation allows you to control your sexual wellness and achieve the look you and only you want.

While you should be proud of your body and the flaws you may think it has, it doesn’t mean you can’t give it a little extra TLC… you deserve it! Whether you’re seeking surgical procedures or more minimally invasive treatments, vaginal rejuvenation doesn’t erase “flaws” (our sexual wellness experts at Amy Brenner, MD & Associates don’t believe in those!); instead, they build on the beauty you already have to improve your overall outlook and boost your confidence.

What is feminine rejuvenation?

Feminine rejuvenation is any procedure that aims to improve the appearance of your vagina, enhance sexual pleasure, and alleviate discomfort.

Let’s pause on that last one.

Despite what many believe, feminine rejuvenation procedures aren’t solely designated for cosmetic purposes. In some cases, larger labia, excess dryness, urinary incontinence, and other conditions can make day-to-day life and sexual intercourse more painful.

Remember, vaginal rejuvenation treatments are all about you, making them the perfect solutions to:

  • Reshape the labia minora and/or labia majora
  • Improve blood circulation to increase sexual pleasure
  • Boost collagen production and promote tissue tightening
  • Remove excess skin around the clitoris
  • Strengthen the pelvic floor to reduce urinary leaks

Plus, with the rise of newer, more effective technology, you no longer have to go through an invasive procedure to obtain great results. Non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures can enhance and improve your vaginal area with less downtime! However, if you want major results, you can still opt for surgical cosmetic gynecology (or a combination of both!).

Non-surgical feminine rejuvenation treatments

For those with less severe concerns or simply don’t want to go through surgery, then non-surgical feminine rejuvenation treatments could be right up your alley! As sexual wellness experts, our medical team at Amy Brenner, MD & Associates finds that many non- and minimally invasive procedures help women of all ages receive the results they’re after.

CORE Intima® Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

Many women don’t realize that collagen production is just as important for feminine rejuvenation as it is for facial anti-aging. Not only does collagen help prevent wrinkles and fine lines, it also revives tissues throughout your body, including the vulva. By delivering controlled energy to vaginal and/or vulva tissue, CORE Intima Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation stimulates collagen to improve the tone, texture, and overall appearance of the external vulva. The procedure treats:

  • Vaginal laxity (looseness)
  • Vaginal atrophy (dryness )
  • Incontinence (leaking of urine)
  • Vulvar pigmentation (darkening)
  • Sagging of of the labia majora (outer vaginal lips)
  • Lichen sclerosus

The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes for an internal treatment and 30 minutes for an external treatment.

O-Shot®

We’re going to talk about something people may see as taboo, but it definitely shouldn’t be! The O-Shot, also known as the “orgasm shot,” allows women to get the most out of their sexual experience. This platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection increases blood flow and revives vaginal tissue, leading to increased pleasure, decreased urinary leaks, and improved vaginal lubrication.

How does PRP work?

PRP carries growth factors with the crucial role of tissue repair. When isolated from your blood and injected into the clitoris and vaginal walls, those growth factors increase collagen and elastin; promote angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels); improve blood flow; and promote the formation of new nerve endings.

Wave therapy

Wave therapy is a non-surgical, drug-free feminine rejuvenation solution to enhance sexual performance and overall wellness. Pulse waves repair damaged blood vessels, which helps improve blood flow to the vaginal area. A series of wave therapy treatments can lead to increased sensitivity and lubrication while improving the appearance of the vulva.

Votiva

Votiva is an FDA-cleared device to treat sexual dysfunctions and stress urinary incontinence. With the help of radio frequency (RF) energy, Votiva heats tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Over time, the boost in collagen and elastin lead to noticeable vaginal rejuvenation, including:

  • Vaginal and vulvar tightening
  • Vaginal lubrication
  • Increased sexual sensations
  • Decreased urinary leakage

This painless procedure only takes about 25 minutes from start to finish, meaning you’re in and out in no time! Although you may notice results right away, most patients require three procedures to maximize the amazing benefits.

AVIVA FemTite Scarless Labiaplasty

If you’re looking into a labiaplasty but don’t want to go through surgery, then look no further than Aviva FemTite Scarless Labiaplasty. This innovative procedure uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat and tighten vulvar tissue, causing the area to shrink without incisions.

Before the procedure starts, your provider will apply a local anesthetic, give you an oral sedative, and nitrous oxide. From there, we create a small entry point to guide the handpiece into the treatment area. Heat from the RF energy promotes collagen formation, which reverses skin laxity and excess tissue.

Since AVIVA is a minimally invasive procedure, you don’t have to worry about the same amount of downtime that comes with a traditional labiaplasty. At Amy Brenner, MD & Associates, we can also provide exosomes to help with the healing process. That means you can get back to your daily life (just avoid tampons and sexual intercourse for two weeks)!

Surgical feminine rejuvenation procedures

For more drastic results, cosmetic surgery works great for women who don’t mind the downtime and will take the recovery process seriously. In more severe cases, minimally invasive procedures alone may not offer the outcomes you’re looking for, even after getting multiple treatments.

Vaginoplasty (vaginal rejuvenation)

A vaginoplasty procedure tightens and strengthens the structure of your vagina to increase muscle tone and control. Since the procedure decreases the size of the vaginal canal, many women find the procedure improves sexual pleasure.

What to expect during a vaginoplasty procedure

Your doctor will first numb the area with a combination of a local anesthetic, nitrous oxide, and an oral sedative. This eliminates the risks that come from general anesthesia.

During your procedure, your doctor will tighten the full length of your vagina, not just the first few centimeters (be careful when choosing a surgeon; some places will not target the full length of your vaginal canal).

How your cosmetic gynecologist tightens your vaginal walls varies from place to place. At Amy Brenner, MD & Associates, we use the Ellman Surgitron, a unique instrument with a cool tip to minimize or even eliminate thermal damage to the underlying tissue. With the Ellman Surgitron, we’re able to make exceptionally precise and minimally traumatic incisions, which leads to less pain and faster recovery.

What to expect after a vaginoplasty procedure

After the two-hour procedure, your doctor will give you the necessary tools to get through recovery. These include medications to soften stool, manage pain, and more. You can expect to spend the first 1 to 2 weeks following the procedure on bed rest.

For 6 to 8 weeks, you should avoid having sex, inserting tampons, heavy lifting, bathtubs, and swimming pools. If you ever have questions about the healing process, always talk to your doctor to ensure you’re following the proper protocols.

Perineoplasty

Especially after childbirth, many women feel that their vaginal opening feels increasingly looser over time. During vaginal delivery, it’s extremely common for perineal tissue to tear. As the tissue heals, uneven scarring and disfigurement often occurs, leading to looseness of the vaginal opening.

On the other hand, some women suffer from a vaginal opening that’s too small, which can cause discomfort and pain during sex.

A perineoplasty procedure addresses any issues with the vaginal opening (introitus), including a vaginal opening that’s too tight or too loose. This surgery repairs the tissue and tightens the muscles of the vaginal opening to make the perineum (area between the opening of the vagina and the anus) more aesthetically pleasing.

You can also choose to get a modified perineoplasty (the combination of a perineoplasty procedure and labiaplasty procedure). Keep in mind that a modified perineoplasty will only address excess skin in the perineum; it won’t tighten the muscle or address a more substantial vaginal issue.

What to expect during a perineoplasty procedure

Before the procedure starts, your doctor will apply a local anesthetic and give you an oral sedative and nitrous oxide. Then your doctor will create a V-shaped incision and remove excess scar tissue at the vaginal opening.

As with vaginoplasty, how the doctor makes the incisions will vary. For the best results, at Amy Brenner, MD & Associates we use the Ellman Surgitron for precise cuts and less damage.

What to expect after a perineoplasty procedure

After the one-hour procedure, your doctor will give you the necessary tools to get through recovery. These include medications to soften stool, manage pain, and more. You can expect to spend the first 3 to 4 days following the procedure on bed rest.

For 8 to 10 weeks, you should avoid having sex, inserting tampons, heavy lifting, bathtubs, and swimming pools. If you ever have questions about the healing process, always talk to your doctor to ensure you’re following the proper protocols.

Labiaplasty

Depending on your concerns, a cosmetic gynecologist can perform a labiaplasty minora and/or a labiaplasty majora procedure.

The labia minora are the smaller, inner vaginal lips that are usually unnoticeable in day-to-day life. However, excess tissue can cause irritation, rubbing, or even pain. A labiaplasty minora procedure not only alleviates those symptoms, it can also improve the aesthetic appearance of your vulva.

On the other hand, a labiaplasty majora procedure reshapes the larger, outer lips of your vagina. Life changes and aging can elongate the labia majora, culminating in a sagging, bulging, or asymmetrical appearance.

Both labiaplasty procedures remove excess tissue to reduce, reshape, and rejuvenate your vaginal lips.

What to expect during a labiaplasty procedure

After applying a local anesthetic along with an oral sedative and nitrous oxide, your doctor will use the Ellman Surgitron to remove the excess tissue. Keep in mind that labias come in different shapes and sizes, so your “ideal” appearance may be different than someone else’s. Your doctor will work with you to make sure your results fit your body best.

At Amy Brenner, MD & Associates, the Ellman Surgitron allows us to create precise linear excisions so that you don’t have to worry about a “scalloped” appearance.

What to expect after a labiaplasty procedure

After your 1 to 2 hour procedure, you’ll need to take 1 to 2 weeks off for bed rest, and full recovery takes about 6 to 8 weeks. During this time, you may notice some swelling, soreness, and bruising.

Your doctor will give you the necessary tools to get you through the recovery period, including medications and instructions to care for the area. It’s best you avoid tampons, heavy lifting, tight clothing, and sex as your body heals.

Clitoral hood reduction

A clitoral hood reduction, also known as hoodectomy or clitoropexy, reduces the amount of skin surrounding the clitoris. Since the sole purpose of the clitoris is pleasure, excess tissue on the clitoral hood can decrease sexual pleasure. For some women, a large clitoris may cause embarrassment, especially if it’s noticeable under tight clothing.

You can also choose to combine your clitoral hood reduction with a labiaplasty, since a smaller clitoris may cause your labias to appear larger.

What to expect during a clitoral hood reduction procedure

Your doctor will first numb the area with a combination of a local anesthetic, nitrous oxide, and an oral sedative. This eliminates the risks that come from general anesthesia.

Once the procedure begins, your doctor will carefully cut and remove excess tissue around your clitoris using the Ellman Surgitron for better precision.

What to expect after a clitoral hood reduction procedure

After a clitoral hood reduction procedure, you can expect to spend 1 to 2 days on bed rest. You can return to work afterwards, but keep in mind that full healing takes around 6 to 8 weeks. As your body heals, you may experience some swelling and pain, which will fade over the coming weeks. Once you’re fully healed, you’re free to go about your regular activities, including intercourse.
