Lichen Sclerosus & The Solution You’ve Been Waiting For

White, patchy skin on the genitals, anus, or even the upper body can not only cause discomfort and itchiness, but can also cause a drop in your confidence.

It’s called lichen sclerosus, and it’s more common than you think.

What is Lichen Sclerosus?

Although it’s most commonly found in postmenopausal women, lichen sclerosus can occur in women at a range of ages. Lichen sclerosus can cause a variety of complications for both your sex life and your skincare.

Patchiness and dry skin aren’t the only symptoms of lichen sclerosus. It can also cause redness, itching, discomfort, pain, tearing or bleeding, and even painful sex.

Treatments for Lichen Sclerosus in Cincinnati

Rarely does lichen sclerosus improve without treatment. And while there’s no cure for lichen sclerosus just yet, there are VERY effective treatments that can help manage, reduce, and improve the symptoms.

Luckily, Amy Brenner, MD & Associates is the expert not only in gynecological health and sexual wellness, but also aesthetic medicine and skincare!

We offer a variety of feminine rejuvenation procedures and aesthetic treatments for Lichen Sclerosus at our Cincinnati office, including the incredible O-Shot and Intima procedures. Both of these procedures, when following our protocol, have helped to manage Lichen Sclerosus.

The O-Shot: How it Works

During an O-Shot, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm. Using a centrifuge, the platelets are isolated from the rest of the blood products to create platelet rich plasma, or PRP. The platelets are then “activated” to release at least eight growth factors that would normally be used to heal injured tissue. These growth factors work like magic to increase collagen, improve blood flow, and heal soft tissue.

This technology has been used for over 10 years in wound healing and orthopedic surgery, and now is being utilized in healing the tissue impacted by Lichen Sclerosus.

Intima: How it Works

Intima can also be used to treat lichen sclerosus. Delivery of laser energy to the vaginal wall and/or external labia majora stimulates a healing response that results in remodeling of the tissue fibers. The body begins to heal itself by making new collagen and blood vessels and new “skin” of the vulva and vagina.

When more collagen is produced, the vaginal walls can be tightened. This can result in increased friction and the spongy erectile tissue (G- spot) directly underneath the vaginal walls being closer to the surface (more easily stimulated). Increased blood flow helps with vaginal lubrication and helps to relieve women of vaginal dryness, itching, and painful intercourse.
