Summer Adventures, How To Pack

Summer is here! In our household that means plenty of family vacations and weekends at the lake. Along with those adventures comes plenty of packing. Considering how much I have to pack and unpack during the summer months I try to simplify wherever possible. The fewer bags the better!
These days I have it down to a science. All I need to know is where I am going and how long I will be there. From there give me an hour and I’ll be ready to jet! If your travel prep could use some refining take these tips from a pro {ahem, me} …
Plan Ahead
Don’t just through whatever is clean into a suitcase, that never works out! Take some time to think about the activities you’ll be doing, the forecast, and whether or not you’ll run into any dress codes. From there pick outfits that you can easily mix and match, with a couple of layers just in case the nights get cool.
 Avoid Bulk
Summer is one of the easiest seasons to pack for because you don’t have to worry about big jackets or boots. Take advantage and load up on clothing items that won’t take up a lot of space in your suitcase. Sun dresses, flip flops and flats are always my go-to!
Consolidate
When I pack for a trip I’m always looking for opportunities to consolidate. For example, I may plan my outfits so I only have to bring black shoes and accessories. And, when it comes to toiletries, I bring as little as possible. This is why TNS Essential Serum from SkinMedica is my number one travel product. It has thirteen different products, all in one container!
Roll It Up
If you’ve never tried rolling your clothes instead of folding them, now is the time to get on board. Not only does this packing secret save space but it also helps to prevent wrinkles. Because, who irons on vacation? I sure don’t!
Add A Spare Bag
Whenever I travel I always pack an extra bag that I can use as a day pack. This way if we’re going to go on a hike, head out on a day trip, or even leave “basecamp” for a night I’m able to pack what I need without hauling everything with me. Plus, then if you end up buying anything you have room for it on the way back {wink}.
Remember summer travel is supposed to be fun and stress-free. Don’t let packing get in the way of that! When in doubt adopt a minimalist approach, and remember if you forget anything you absolutely need you can always buy it when you get there. Happy Summer everyone!
