IPL Photofacial in Cincinnati, Ohio
Target Pigmentation Issues.
An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial differs from a laser which only uses one wavelength of light. Instead, an IPL Photofacial uses what’s called broad-spectrum light, which reaches multiple layers of skin. IPL uses a handpiece to deliver brief flashes of light to the skin.
When the light flashes, it targets and treats pigmented and vascular lesions. If you’re looking to get healthier, radiant skin…a photofacial in Cincinnati at our office may be the perfect treatment for you.

How does the IPL Photofacial work?
The IPL Photofacial uses light energy to target melanin (pigment/darkening) in the skin and hemoglobin in blood vessels.
The pulsed light breaks down the skin’s pigment in that area without damaging any of the surrounding tissue. In addition, this treatment can also coagulate and shrink blood vessels that lie deeper under the skin. After your IPL Photofacial, your body naturally eliminates those affected melanin particles. The IPL Photofacial treatment also improves skin texture through collagen stimulation. Periodic IPL Photofacials is one of the most effective ways to slow down the aging process.

Process & Results
IPL Photofacial
Step 1.
The Consultation
In your complimentary consultation, we will develop an individualized plan for you. We will take photos of the planned treatment area to document your transformation. We will discuss the entire IPL Photofacial process including how many treatments to expect and review questions you may have.
Step 2.
Treatment Preparation
We apply topical numbing cream to the treated area to assist with your comfort. Next, the treated area is cleaned and a clear gel applied to your skin. For your safety, protective eyewear is placed and worn during the entire IPL Photofacial.
Step 3.
Treat the Skin
We deliver pulsed light to the skin with the IPL Photofacial hand piece. Patients have described the treatment as a “flicking” or “snapping” on the skin. The light will appear bright even with the protective eyewear. The treatment is relatively quick, ranging from 5 minutes for the face or up to an hour for larger body areas.
Step 4.
Post Treatment
After the procedure, the ultrasound gel is removed from your face and we apply sunscreen. The treatment area may appear red or mildly swollen, something that usually fades within a few hours. Individuals with prominent pigmentation may notice that brown areas become temporarily darker for 10-14 days. Makeup can be reapplied immediately. Otherwise, there is no post care needed.
Step 5.
Results
An IPL Photofacial uses light energy to diminish sun-damage, acne, redness, freckles, and brown/pigmented spots.
