Process & Results
MyFlow®
Step 1.
The Consultation
We perform a thorough history and physical examination of the patient. Depending on the patient’s age and history, we usually perform additional testing including pap smears, blood test, biopsy of the lining of the uterus and an ultrasound. Our physicians then discuss options for the treatments of excessive/abnormal menstrual bleeding based on the findings and discuss the pros/cons , recovery and potential side effects of each option.
Step 2.
Schedule the MyFlow® Ablation
If MyFlow® Endometrial Ablation in Cincinnati is right for you, our office will contact your insurance company and determine your specific insurance benefits. Our scheduling nurse reviews the logistics of having this procedure in our office under local or IV sedation. Medications are prescribed to be taken before and after the procedure.
Step 3.
Day of the Procedure
MyFlow® endometrial ablation is performed in our AAAASF accredited office surgical suite under IV sedation or with local numbing medication in the uterus. You will need a driver on the day of the procedure. Expect to be in the office for 2 hours to allow time for both preparation and recovery. For the procedure itself, for the physician places a small insert into the uterus. Heat is then delivered into the uterus to treat the lining of the uterus (the part responsible for bleeding issues ). The device is then removed from the uterus.
Step 4.
Results
You can anticipate to have menstrual bleeding/spotting immediately following the procedure and lasting up to 6 weeks (usually only 2 weeks ) . In approximately 60-70% of women, menstrual bleeding will completely stop after MyFlow®. In the remaining women (approximately 90-98%) , menstrual bleeding is reduced to normal or lighter levels.
