Sonata Fibroid Symptom Relief in Cincinnati

Sonata treatment is a clinically proven incisionless procedure that helps provide fibroid symptom relief in Cincinnati. Fibroids of different types, sizes and locations are located using ultrasound waves and treated via a handpiece that is inserted through the vaginal canal into the uterus. When a fibroid is found, the handpiece delivers radiofrequency energy to shrink the fibroid over time & help reduce symptoms.

Following the Sonata procedure, 50% of treated women resumed their regular activities within one day, while the average time for return was around two days.

Fibroid Symptom Relief

Fibroid-related symptoms often involve extended and distressing menstrual periods that extend beyond a week, accompanied by sensations of discomfort in the abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area. Menstrual bleeding can become heavy, necessitating pad or tampon changes every 2-3 hours. The impact of these fibroids can differ based on their consistency, size, and positioning within the uterus, potentially leading to abdominal bloating that can be mistaken for pregnancy. Additionally, fibroids may contribute to anemia, challenges in achieving pregnancy, painful intercourse, heightened frequency of urination, and gastrointestinal issues.

The Sonata Incisionless Procedure can help women address symptoms of fibroids that may be interfering with their daily lives.

How does sonata Fibroids procedure work?

The Sonata Treatment involves your doctor inserting the handpiece through the vaginal opening and into the uterus, where it remains during the procedure. Utilizing ultrasound waves, the handpiece precisely targets individual fibroids. Subsequently, it administers radiofrequency energy to each fibroid individually, should there be more than one under treatment.

Over the course of several months, the fibroid will gradually shrink, leading to a reduction or even elimination of symptoms

The Consultation

We perform a thorough history and physical examination of the patient. Depending on the patient’s age and history, we usually perform additional testing including pap smears, blood test, biopsy of the lining of the uterus and an ultrasound. Our physicians then discuss options for the treatments of uterine fibroids based on the findings and discuss the pros/cons, recovery and potential side effects of each option.

If Sonata® is right for you, our surgery scheduler will contact your insurance company and determine your specific insurance benefits. She will contact you with insurance details and schedule the uterine fibroids symptom relief procedure in Cincinnati. Our scheduler will inform you of the logistics of your procedure.

Step 3.

On the day of your scheduled Sonata treatment in Cincinnati, you will arrive at the hospital a few hours before the scheduled time to meet with the anesthesia team, get an IV, receive preoperative medications and sign any paper work that is required. Your surgeon will meet with you before to answer any last minute questions you may have. For most patients, the actual procedure takes 1 hour.
