Laser Hair Removal in Cincinnati Ohio

Laser Hair Removal is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments in the United States. Laser Hair Removal is an FDA-approved process of permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair on almost any part of the body except near the eyes. At Amy Brenner MD & Associates, we use the Syneron GentleMax Pro system, which is considered the Gold Standard for all skin types, as well as being the fastest dual wavelength hair removal laser in the market.

A Solution for
unwanted hair

Body hair is largely determined by genetics which affects the density, location, and color of hair. Hormones and changes in hormones, such as menopause, can cause increased growth of hair, often in sensitive areas such as the face.

Excessive body hair on anyone, male or female, can be embarrassing and affect self-esteem. Instead of shaving, waxing or tweezing unwanted hair, Laser Hair Removal in Cincinnati offers the relief you’re looking for.

Technology that
promotes comfort.

The Syneron GentleMax Pro system uses a patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™). This device prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer with a cooling burst of cryogen in adjustable durations—milliseconds before the laser pulse. DCD helps ensure that the treatments are as comfortable as they are effective.

Step 1

The Consultation

First, we ask that you see one of our Skin Care Specialists for a consultation so that we can discuss your personal goals and create the best plan for you. Not everyone is a candidate for LHR. Blonde, white, or gray hair may not have enough pigment to be a candidate for LHR. Having an active new tan or tweezing or plucking hair is a contraindication to treating that day. If you desire topical numbing medication (it is not necessary with our device), this will be provided during your consultation. Then, we will get you scheduled for your first treatment.

Step 2

On the day of your treatment

LHR is performed by our licensed Nurse Practitioners or the Licensed Cosmetic Therapist. If you purchased topical numbing medication at your consultation, you will apply this 30 minutes prior to procedure. Laser energy is delivered through a small hand piece operated by your practitioner. The laser’s pulse is typically compared to the snap of a rubber band.

Step 3

Skin absorbs the energy

The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the skin and converted to heat. The heat is then absorbed by the fair follicles being targeted, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.

Step 4

What to expect

Over the next 1-3 weeks, you will notice the treated hair falling out.

Step 5

Repeat

With every subsequent treatment of laser hair removal in Cincinnati, you will see fewer and fewer hairs return. Returning for your next treatment within the 4 to 6 week window and finishing the entire series of treatments is critical to getting the best results. If you miss a treatment by more than 2 weeks, you will NOT have optimal results.

Dr. Brenner and her staff are extremely professional. I just love this place. They are very up to date with the latest medical and clinical advice and yet they make you feel like you are at a "spa". I always feel they have time to answer my questions and never seem rushed (even though I know they are very busy). The physicians and staff excel at customer service.

Post Treatment Recommendation

Immediately after the treatment there may be some redness and swelling in the surrounding area. This will usually subside within a few hours of treatment.

If you experience discomfort, you may apply a cool compress to the affected area and take acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin).

You may take an oral antihistamine or apply a topical hydrocortisone cream to the treatment area to alleviate any itching or irritation. Scratching should be avoided.

It is recommended that treated areas be protected from the sun with a full- spectrum sunblock with an SPF 30 (or higher) before, during and following your treatment series.

If you notice dark spots beneath the skin, (they look like blackheads), these are terminal hairs that need to be exfoliated. It is helpful to soak in a warm, not hot bath (this will dilate the pores) and then exfoliate with a soft cloth or scrubbing gloves. A lotion containing salicylic or glycolic acid may also be helpful.

The treated sites may also blister, bleed or ooze fluid. This discomfort is usually mild to moderate and fades within a week. Twice daily cleansing with mild cleanser and tepid water followed with an application of Bacitracin ointment will aid in healing. It is important not to pick, rub or scratch the sites as this may lead to permanent scares or promote an infection. Please call us at the first sign of persistent pain or blistering.

New hair growth will usually begin in about three weeks. Remember not to wax, tweeze, thread, bleach or apply chemical depilatories to the areas being treated for two to four weeks prior to treatment or at any time during the treatment series. Shaving or using clippers are the only acceptable methods of hair removal. Wait until redness subsides before shaving again.

Hair loss will be most evident ten days to two weeks after treatment.

Treatment intervals will be approximately every four to six weeks from the neck up and six to eight weeks from the neck down.

It's simple— identify the problem areas of your body and we will recommend the right treatment plan for you.
