How does Kybella® work?
Kybella® is in an in-office treatment in which deoxycholic acid is injected into the area below the chin. The number of treatments needed depends on the amount and distribution of your submental fat. We start with 2 treatments, spaced 6 weeks apart. Maximal results will be seen at the 12 week mark. It is typical to not notice a decrease in the fat under your chin until after your second treatment. For this reason, we offer Kybella® in Cincinnati as a two treatment package. Depending on the amount of fat under the chin, a third or fourth treatment may be necessary.
Procedure Process

Step 1.
Consultation
During your consultation, our aesthetician and physicians will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. All Kybella® treatments are performed by our board certified physicians.
Step 2.
Mark & Measure
Our physician will mark and measure the area below your chin to determine the exact area into which Kybella® will be injected.
Step 3.
Numb the Area
Topical lidocaine will be applied to the treatment area. After 15 minutes, the area will be cleaned and a temporary grid will be applied to map out the area for precise injection.
Step 4.
Injection
Our physician will inject Kybella® into the treatment area. The injections take approximately 5 minutes to complete. The temporary grid is removed with alcohol and ice is applied to the area for 15 minutes.
Step 5.
Fat is Removed
Once the injection is complete, fat cells will be physically destroyed over the next 6 weeks. A second treatment in the same area will be performed in 6 weeks.
Step 6.
Results
The effects are not instantaneous, but they are long lasting—meaning once the fat is gone, it’s gone for good!
