Pap smears seem like a hassle and most of the time they feel like they’re tough to fit into your schedule.
But just like your regular primary care annual visit, this visit is just as important to do. Dr. Brenner dives into why she recommends to always keep up on this exam and what other issues can be discussed and tested for inside your annual gynecological exam. Going beyond a cervical screening (that’s what your pap is for) screening for STD’s, talking birth control and lab work that typically isn’t watched for by most gyno’s could be a part of your visit. A pap smear could be the first indicator of a health issue and doing them every year can be important in catching any changes.
