FemiLift® in Cincinnati is an in-office, non-surgical, medical laser treatment that delivers controlled energy to the vaginal or vulva tissue – so cells make more collagen – improving tone, texture, and appearance of the external vulva. The vagina can also be treated to help with vaginal tightening, vaginal dryness and even urinary incontinence.
Restore Your Vaginal Health
Vaginal tissue slowly declines over time. There are several events in a woman’s life she may face that affects her vaginal health. Probably the most common event is childbirth. Childbirth stretches the vaginal canal and surrounding tissue, thus many women experience looseness of the vaginal canal and the introitus (opening of the vagina).
In addition, other life events such as menopause, hysterectomies, breast-feeding and even chemotherapy can reduce a woman’s estrogen production. As a result, vaginal walls may start to thin, dry and become inflamed. Regardless of age, as women get older many experience cosmetic changes to their genitalia – such as pigmentation and sagging of the vulva skin.

Process & Results
FemiLift®
Step 1.
Preparation
Your FemiLift® vaginal rejuvenation provider will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. For external FemiLift® treatment of the labia (outer vaginal lips), we recommend you shave the area to be treated 24 hours prior to the procedure. Our staff will apply numbing medication to the treatment area of the external vulva. For Internal FemiLift® Vaginal Rejuvenation in Cincinnati, no preparation is needed.
Step 2.
Speculum Exam
A speculum exam and pelvic will be performed by your medical provider to ensure you are a good candidate for the procedure. Gauze is used to wipe away extra vaginal secretions.
Step 3.
The Procedure
During an Internal vaginal treatment, the laser energy is delivered via a tube-shaped intra-vaginal device in pulses until all vaginal tissue has been treated. Patients do not feel the laser pulses inside the vagina. A slight pressure sensation is felt due to the tube shaped laser device. This sensation is similar to a pelvic exam.
During an external, vulva treatment the laser energy is delivered via an external hand-piece in pulses until all vulvar tissues has been treated. The external treatment does cause some discomfort which is why numbing cream and our ProNox® (ambulatory nitrous oxide inhalation anesthesia system) is used so that patients are comfortable during an external vulvar laser treatment.
Step 4.
Post-Procedure Care
After an External FemiLift® Vaginal Rejuvenation treatment, Aquaphor is applied to the area after the treatment is complete. After an external treatment, the skin can feel dry and tight, sometimes a woman will experience itching in the area over the next few days as the tissue heals. We encourage the patient to apply Aquaphor as often as needed to control itching, discomfort.
No products are recommended for aftercare after an Internal FemiLift® Vaginal Rejuvenation in Cincinnati, however, we do recommend pelvic rest for 5 days after the procedure. We recommend avoiding intercourse, baths, hot tubs and swimming after a vulvar or vaginal FemiLift® Laser treatment in Cincinnati.
Step 5.
Results
Our experience has shown that patients are thrilled with the results. Most women start to notice the effects after 1-2 sessions with full results 1 month after the third session. We usually suggest starting with 3 treatments over a 12-week time period with a “touch-up” yearly thereafter. More severe cases of lichen sclerous or atrophy may require additional treatments.
How Does FemiLift® Work?
During vaginal rejuvenation in Cincinnati, delivery of the laser energy to the vaginal wall and/or external labia majora stimulates a healing response that results in remodeling of the tissue fibers. The body begins to heal itself by making new collagen and blood vessels and new “skin” of the vulva and vagina. When more collagen is produced, the vaginal walls can be tightened. This can result in increased friction and the spongy erectile tissue (G- spot) directly underneath the vaginal walls are closer to the surface (more easily stimulated).
In addition, the “legs” or crus of the clitoris are in closer contact with the vaginal surface so they can be stimulated easier. This can make orgasms more easily obtainable and more intense which increases sexual satisfaction. In addition, the regeneration of new, healthy, stronger tissue (collagen and elastin) supporting the base of the bladder/urethra can help leaky bladders! Increased blood flow helps with vaginal lubrication and relieves women of vaginal dryness, itching, and painful intercourse.
FemiLift® FAQs:
What Can I Expect Post Treatment?
The procedure is virtually painless and requires no anesthesia. Many patients feel and see improvement after the first treatment, although the procedure calls for three treatments each spaced four weeks apart for optimal results. You can return to normal activities right after the procedure, but should refrain from sexual activity for five days.
Can't Take Hormones? We Have a Solution for Menopausal Urogenital Symptoms.
For decades our only option for managing urogenital symptoms of menopause including vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and urinary symptoms was the use of vaginal estrogen therapy. For many women (20%), hormone therapy fails to relieve urogenital symptoms. Additionally, there are some women who prefer to avoid the risks associated with hormone use or cannot use hormones because of breast cancer history. FemiLift® Vaginal Rejuvenation in Cincinnati is a revolutionary treatment for urogenital symptoms attributed to low estrogenic states or menopause without the use of hormones.
Why Choose FemiLift?
After childbirth, many women experience a change in their vagina which can lead to urinary incontinence and decreased sensation during sex. Similarly, with menopause there are changes that can occur to the vaginal tissue; vaginal dryness is a primary concern for many peri-menopausal and post-menopausal women. Also, lichen sclerosus is a chronic debilitating disease of the vulva.
When Will I See Results?
Patients report immediate changes; even after one treatment session. The full benefits of the FemiLift® treatments are enjoyed 30 days after the third treatment session. The results are best maintained with yearly or semi-annual maintenance treatments.
Are the Treatments Painful?
The internal vaginal FemiLift® treatment is pain-free. You will feel pressure from the probe similar to a pelvic exam. The external Co2 that is mainly used for lichen sclerosus is moderately uncomfortable. We have developed a protocol at Amy Brenner, MD & Associates with topical numbing cream and the ProNox® (inhaled nitrous oxide) to help keep you as comfortable as possible.
Is There Any Downtime or Restrictions After the FemiLift Treatment?
We will ask you to abstain from intercourse, hot tubs, and pools for 72 hours following treatment.
What Are the Risks or Side Effects Associated With This Procedure?
In general, FemiLift® offers a safe and effective non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation with a highly unlikely chance of having an adverse effect. Theoretically, since laser energy is used to heat the tissue, the following have been reported in the medical literature: skin burns, scarring, pain. Thus, it is important to go to a qualified physician or provider with experience in sexual medicine, lasers, and aesthetics.
Who is Not a Candidate for FemiLift®?
FemiLift® is not for everyone. Anyone with an active infection should wait until the infection resolves. Patients with significant atrophy, scarring or narrowing of the vaginal canal due to atrophy or lichen sclerosus may not be able to insert the laser wand.
Other non-candidates include: Women with a significant pelvic floor vaginal laxity involving significant widening and muscular separation; these women need a surgical repair and will be disappointed with a laser procedure. Women with significant urinary incontinence and/or prolapse; these women need a surgical repair / “sling” or “tape” procedure. Women who have never had an orgasm who are hoping this is the “magic bullet.” Women who have dyspareunia or painful intercourse (not due to atrophy). These women would be better suited to have the O-shot® alone or other gynecologic evaluation and treatment. Women with severe atrophy that would not be able to tolerate the laser probe insertion.
However, women with significant symptoms may want to combine FemiLift® with O-Shot®, WAVE therapy and/or bioidentical hormones for enhanced results. Consulting with one of our providers is the first step to determining which procedures or surgeries are a right fit for you.
