Step 2.
Treatment Preparation
On the day of the procedure, topical numbing cream with be applied to the treatment area. For patients desiring treatment of their eyelids, metal contacts will be placed.
In addition to topical numbing cream, we also offer patients ProNox®. This is a self-delivery nitrous oxide system that significantly assists with any discomfort or anxiety you may have . The gas is completely out of your system after 10 minutes so you can safely drive and resume your normal activities after ProNox® use.
Step 3.
Treat the Skin
Patients report a quick warm snapping sensation against the skin with the laser pulses, but overall the procedure is well tolerated. In addition to the topical numbing medication and ProNox®, the Zimmer cooler is utilized for added comfort.
Step 4.
Post-Procedure Treatment
After the laser treatment is complete, a post-procedure mask will be applied. You will be given detailed post-procedure instructions and a follow up appointment in 2 to 3 days will be arranged.

After the treatment, most patients describe the post-procedure feeling as a sunburn for about 2 hours.
How many treatments are needed to see results?
Typically one laser treatment with Pixel C02 is recommended. However, with deep acne scars and deep wrinkles, additional treatments may be needed based on your goals and expectations.
How soon after a CO2 laser treatment can I wear makeup?
The skin will peel and flake 5-7 days after the treatment. After the peeling is complete, the underlying redness can be covered with makeup. We recommend using a mineral-based makeup.
Can anyone have CO2 laser resurfacing in Cincinnati?
No. This is not an appropriate option for dark skinned patients. Morepheus8 RF Microneedling would be a better option for dark skinned patients. CO2 laser is not an option for dark skin patients due to the risk of hyperpigmentation (darkening of of the skin). This is also not a treatment for any woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Certain medications can be contraindications as well, including anyone who has been treated with isotretinoin (or Accutane) within the previous 6 months. Can CO2 laster be used in combination with other treatments?
Absolutely! CO2 laser resurfacing can be performed alone or combined with additional treatments such as dermal fillers (for volume loss), or Botox Cosmetic, for a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. PRP (platelet rich plasma ) can be applied immediately after the CO2 laser for an enhanced effect due to the growth factors contained within PRP. What kind of post-procedure care if required?
Our aesthetic specialists will review with you a detailed plan for your care after the procedure. In general, it will involve using aquaphor a protective barrier until the skin peels. We will also review with you on how to do vinegar soaks for cleaning the skin. Our specialists will also recommend specialized skin care products to enhance your recovery.
Where is this procedure performed?

Your skin will feel like it is sunburned and hot for the first few hours after the treatment. After the first day your skin will be raw and swollen - particularly around the eyes. For the first few days following treatment your skin will form a ‘micro-crust’ and will have a bronzed appearance. Five to seven days after the treatment, the skin will peel and flake . Your skin will be pink and sensitive for one to three months.
