Supporting Your Needs.
While we’d love to cover everything in one visit, combining an annual exam with additional concerns is not allowed by insurance, nor does it allow us to give each issue the attention it deserves. To ensure you receive the highest quality of care and to be compliant with insurance, we require focusing on either preventive services or specific health concerns during each appointment. This means scheduling a separate visit on another day if you’d like to address both.

Have Your Test Results Ready for Your Appointment
If you want to go over blood work, imaging, or medical records from other providers during your visit, please bring printed or digital copies with you. Although our team can request these documents, the process can be slow, and waiting for them may delay your care. Without your results on hand, you’ll likely need to book a separate appointment after our doctors have reviewed the information.
Here's What to Expect
Preparing for Your Annual Gynecologic Exam at Amy Brenner, MD & Associates
Step 1.
Meet Our Experienced Gynecology Team
Your routine gynecologic exam will be conducted by an experienced, well-trained medical provider or a board-certified gynecologist in Kenwood. This specialist is dedicated to providing thorough, personalized care focused on your overall health and well-being.
Step 2.
Share Your Medical Records
If you’ve had previous gynecologic treatments, surgeries, or abnormal test results, it’s important that we review your medical history before your first appointment. Prior to your visit, please request that your previous healthcare provider send your relevant records to our office. This information allows our providers to better prepare for your visit.
Step 3.
Complete Your Medical History Form
To save time and enhance privacy, we utilize a secure electronic medical records (EMR) system. We encourage you to complete your profile through our online portal before your appointment. This allows you to do so at your leisure, ensuring accuracy and helping your provider focus on your concerns during the visit.
Step 4.
Set Up Your Patient Portal Account
Please create your Patient Portal Account at least 3 days before your visit. After registration, fill out our health history questionnaire and bring it with you to the clinic as well as a valid photo ID and your insurance card. If you’re unable to complete this before your visit, arrive 30 minutes early to do so at our office.
Step 5.
Understand Your Insurance
Please contact your insurance company directly to confirm your benefits. At the time of your visit, we request that you pay any co-pays or deductibles owed. If we cannot verify your insurance benefits in advance, we may ask you to provide a deposit, which will be refunded after your insurer processes the claim.

What's your cancellation policy?
At Amy Brenner, MD & Associates, we value your time and strive to provide a seamless, attentive experience during every visit. To do this effectively, we carefully prepare and schedule our staff based on your appointment. In return, we kindly ask that you honor our time as well.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us at least 2 full business days before your scheduled time. This advance notice allows us to offer the slot to another patient and adjust our resources accordingly.
In cases where patients do not call to cancel (no-show) or provide less than 24 hours' notice, a $35 cancellation fee will be applied to your account. This fee helps cover the costs associated with the missed appointment and the lost opportunity to serve another patient.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain high-quality care and timely service for all our patients.
Should I schedule an annual exam or a concern-based visit?
An annual gynecological exam is your opportunity to stay on top of your overall health and catch potential issues early. These preventive visits typically include a full review of your personal and family health history, a physical and pelvic exam, a Pap smear (if needed), and routine blood work—such as a cholesterol screening. Your provider may also discuss topics like birth control, fertility planning, or cancer risk screening based on your genetics and lifestyle.
However, if you're experiencing specific symptoms or changes in your body, it's best to schedule a concern-based visit. These appointments are designed to focus on one or more health issues like:
- Low energy
- Unwanted weight gain
- Vaginal discomfort
- Hormone imbalances
- Thyroid concerns
- Pain during sex
- Recurring discharge
- Low libido
- Urinary leakage
Rather than a broad checkup, concern-driven visits allow us to dig deeper into what’s going on and create a plan tailored to your needs. Choosing the right type of appointment ensures you get the most accurate, focused care—whether you're coming in for prevention or looking for answers.
Why do I need to set up a patient portal account?
Creating a patient portal account is free and provides you with convenient access to your medical records, appointment schedules, and direct messaging with our team. This tool streamlines our process, enhances your care, and helps you better understand your health.
Can you share details about the insurance policies you work with?
Insurance coverage can vary widely, so it’s essential that you understand your plan’s details before your appointment. While our staff is knowledgeable about many common insurance providers, we cannot know every individual policy’s specifics, such as co-pays, deductibles, or visit coverage.
Staying informed about your insurance helps prevent unexpected charges and ensures your appointment proceeds without delays.
Schedule a Consultation
It's simple—identify the problem areas of your body and we will recommend the right treatment plan for you.
